I am originally from Ukraine, and did my undergraduate studies there in a city called Lviv in Western Ukraine. As my home city is close to the mountains, I spent lots of time hiking and skiing there. I moved to Austria to do my PhD and decided to stay a bit longer in that beautiful country. I loved living in Vienna, which is an amazingly efficient combination of modern infrastructure and nature. I moved to Oxford in 2017 and joined the lab at the Jenner Institute, University of Oxford. My first project was to develop a scalable vaccine manufacturing process to produce chimpanzee adenovirus-based vaccines that are a trademark of the Jenner Institute. To my great pleasure, it worked out so well that in 2019 is was used as a basis for the manufacturing protocols of the COVID19 vaccine. Currently, I hold a very prestigious Marie Sklodowska-Curie personal fellowship from the European Union that allows me to use cutting-edge technologies to develop better vaccines. My current target is the optimized rabies vaccine.

My Typical Day:
A bit over a year ago I had a baby so now my typical day starts around 7 am. I make breakfast for the entire family, get my son to a nursery, and start work at around 9:30 am. I either analyse my results and plan further steps on my project or run previously planned experiments. Lunch and catch up with my colleagues is an important and fun part of my day. I collect my son from the nursery around 5 pm, hurry home to make dinner and settle the baby down for the night. After my son is asleep, I still go back to reply emails or further analyse my project’s results.
