I am a doctor working at hospitals in East London. I specialise in nephrology (kidneys and things like dialysis and transplantation) and have been working as a consultant since June 2020.
At the moment, I am doing a PhD based at the London School of Hygieine & Tropical Medicine so my time is split between doing research for my PhD and my work as a doctor. My research involves using GP and hospital electronic health records to investigate the long-term effects of COVID-19 on kidney function and other impacts (such as long-term survival, heart problems etc) on people who already had kidney disease to begin with.
-
My Typical Day:
It depends on whether I am working as a doctor or doing my research. In my job as a doctor, I am usually at the hospital from around 8am to 6pm. I do my research mostly from home and usually work from 9.30am to around 7.30pm.

What I'd do with the prize money:
I will use the prize money to be able to produce more eye-catching material to be able to engage young people with my research.
