Oh, sorry for the delay in getting back to you – I missed this! No, I do not think being foreign had any negative effects on my work experience. I think the main difference was that I had to take an official English test before I started doing my PhD in UK, whilst those who had done their previous degrees in countries where English is a national language did not have to do so. I feel my experience of coming from another country and having lived in few different countries is beneficial in many ways. It allows me to have a somewhat unique insight in how people from different cultures understand things, for example.
