I had an experiment that went ”wrong” back in 2021.
Basically, I was doing an infection model where I infected cells with the fungus Candida albicans and was viewing it under a microscope. I stained my cells green and was looking for a certain protein. Unfortunately, I did not find the protein. But I did notice something very strange in a few of the cells. I spent around an hour trying to figure out what it was, then I noticed the protein was there, but in a completely different spot than I originally thought it would be. This led to developing a new theory, and we tested the hypothesis in a few experiments and it turned out to be correct! If that experiment had not worked, I probably still would be thinking of the old theory.
