If the mother is vaccinated, the protective antibodies from that are likely to be passed to the baby but it’s not known yet how much protection this gives.
Antibodies from Covid infections late in pregnancy pass to the baby and may give some protection for six months. Again, the exact level of how good that protection would be is unknown.
However, catching covid while pregnant is a *bad* idea, particularly in the later stages of pregnancy.
There is evidence of higher rates of stillbirth, low birth weights, and severe illnesses in pregnant women. (The chance of any of these happening is still very low, but it is higher if you have covid)
It is better to get vaccinated while pregnant – safer for the mother and the baby.
