I hadn’t read the books until I finished my PhD (maybe the first one when it came out but I didn’t love it at the time). Then I read them all within about 2 months, couldn’t put them down at night! It was so nice having worked so hard on my thesis for so long.

I am much more of a Wheel of Time fan. If you haven’t heard of it, try the first book ‘The Eye of the World’. They have just made a TV series of it and I was very excited

I loved the books and used to even be quite active in fandom, writing HP fan fiction. I never did like the movies much, though, and so gave up on those before they were all made.

LOVE IT! Every time I mess something up or annoy anyone I get away with it by saying ‘mischief managed’ and everyone forgets!

Amy Mason answered on 12 Jan 2022:
I used to. When I was in high school, I used to read the first couple a lot (many of the books came out when I was at uni) and really identified with Hermione. The more other books I read, the less I liked Harry Potter and how it treats female characters, characters of color, treating other characters as slaves etc.
Now, I prefer to read books with female or NB protagonists. If you like magical schools, I’d recommend the Scholomance Series by Noami Novik or Wizard of Earthsea by Ursula le Guin.
