• Question: What is the most dangerous virus you have worked with?

      I have only ever worked with SARS-CoV-2, but the samples are already made non-infectious when they get to us.

      I worked with vaccinia virus which is a pox virus. It’s kind of the friendly brother of the evil small pox which was the deadliest virus that ever existed because it killed so many people. It’s not around anymore because of a global vaccination campaign :).
      Vaccinia can’t really harm you unless you have a severely weakened immune system or if you get it directly into your eye.
