Hi Sophie, that’s a great question. I am currently a microbiology researcher, studying infections caused by different microbes or ‘bugs’ like SARS-CoV-2, Candida albicans, Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli. But I think I might eventually like to venture out and try something different after my PhD is complete. I really enjoy the process of research and experimental design, but I would also like to incorporate some new skills to my daily routine.
So yes, I think I will eventually change my job! But it will always stay in the realm of science, just different aspects of it. Science jobs are not only limited to research!
Hi Sophie, I love being a scientist and doing research. I also understand that working in university (academia) it is important to have aPhD to continue to progress… something I am not particularly interested in doing. So I am open to considering other job options. I would love to continue working as a researcher in industry for example but maybe even something else in the scientific field. As Danielle said there are so many science jobs – not just researcher. 🙂
