My love of animals. I just wanted to work with animals and that led me to become a vet, this introduced me to lots of other elements of science, especially understanding disease outbreaks, and that led me to where I am now

I really wanted to help people. As a medical doctor I would only help maybe a few thousand over my entire career. As a scientist I play a small part in a bigger picture that will help millions.

I also really enjoy being at the boundary of what we know and pushing into that unknown void to discover new things and drive humanity forward. It all sounds very grandiose but it’s true!
